Papermaking is a highly sophisticated process involving several processing steps to turn wood into paper products. On an average, 700 pulp and paper mills are in India. This industry is highly water intensive. Though a lot of efforts has been taken towards saving water and to reduce the environmental impact, substantially; a huge amount of wastewater is being discharged.

With increasing water scarcity and stringent environmental discharge norms, Industry needs proven technologies for wastewater treatment and recycle. Our solutions offer cost effective, innovative technologies to treat and recycle wastewater to achieve zero liquid discharge.

Challenge:

One of the leading paper manufacturers in North India had availability of water as a major problem. Furthermore, it was critical as industry was in the process of expansion and thus needed to ensure self-reliance for water.

Solution:

After thoroughly studying the effluent from the entire facility, we recommended multiple High Pressure Reverse Osmosis System operating at high recoveries.

Effluent characteristics were as follows:
